Anyone recommend a mountain bike front derailleur solid?
I want to upgrade my drivetrain for my XC riding style. I have a Giant NRS3 2003 and want to upgrade to a Shimano XT front derailleur. What is the correct i need specifications of this bike in particular? pull the top or bottom? Diameter?
Luckily for you lot to work with Shimano either top or bottom pull. Just look at how your cable is routed to decide now what you have (I think it's top-pull ).... or look where the cable stops are. In Additionally, you can use the top or bottom-swing-swing with the NRS. Shimano (and most models Sram, too) began to pack their derailleurs with multi-clamp clamp adapters to fit all three sizes. The top of my head, I would say that the NRS is 31.8, but it can take the smallest measure 28.6 ..... to be sure (they are equal to 1-1/4 "and 1-1/8"). Sram fronts are great ...... wide, stiff and crisp. The X.9 is competitive in price. Shimano has finally followed suit with models '07 and '08 and made the External Links / rigid. Many online price now as close the '08s to begin arriving on the market. I would say that the choice between one and enjoy the ride!
